Welcome to Weather with Liam Dutton
Why I'm here and what you can expect
A little bit about me
Hi everyone,
If you’ve already subscribed, thank you. If you’re wondering whether to subscribe, then hopefully the words that follow will help you decide.
If you’ve not come across me before, my name is Liam Dutton and I’m a broadcaster and Met Office-qualified meteorologist with over 20 years of experience - currently working as a weather presenter for Channel 4 News in the UK.
Prior to this, I worked as a broadcast meteorologist at the BBC, where I spent a decade broadcasting regionally, nationally and internationally on radio, television and online, across most BBC channels.
You may also have come across me when I went globally viral for saying the Welsh place name Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch in one of my weather forecasts.
Why I’m here
I’ve been fascinated by the weather ever since I was a child and over the years have thoroughly enjoyed being able to make my passion my career. Here, I’ll be sharing my knowledge and expertise, with the aim to inform you about weather and climate in a clear, concise and engaging way.
What kind of community I’m looking to build here
Weather and climate affect everyone, so this will be a space where anyone can dip in and out at their leisure, to read posts, ask questions and learn more.
What you can expect
Here on Substack, you can generally expect shorter but fairly frequent posts by me, to reflect the ever-changing nature of our weather and climate.
For longer reads, I have a blog that I write for Channel 4 News, so if you fancy bookmarking that, click here.
What are my interests beyond weather?
Outside of the weather world, I’m a pianist and musician, and compose my own music, which you can listen to here. I also love technology, enjoy travel and good food.
